Frequently Asked Questions
-
How to get started?
You first need to establish your family network and invite your children to join. Once they’ve registered, you can tap the + sign on the bottom of your Home Screen to create a gig for one or more of your children. Tap on the gig category at the top of the screen and choose from a list of the provided gig menu or create a ‘Custom Gig’.
-
Can I invite neighbors or friends to join our Family Network?
Your children are responsible for building their network and sending initiations to trusted “patrons”. All patron connections must be approved by a parent. Remember, no conversations can occur and no gigs can be sent until a parent has approved this Patron to join their child’s network. Because networking is an important skill that your child will gain with Zilla, we encourage you to help them grow by assisting with obtaining the email or mobile phone of patrons, when needed.
-
Can I assign the same gig to one or more of my children and have this repeat on a daily or weekly basis?
Yes, if you want to assign a gig such as ‘Make your bed’ to one or more children, you will have the choice to do so.
-
Will my children have a choice to ‘Accept or Decline’ a gig that is sent?
The Zilla system allows any user to accept or decline a gig. It’s important to note that you, as a parent, can set the household rules and establish expectations. For example, you may choose to set up an Allowance Program for your children, which can be the same for all children or unique to each child. Gigs that are part of an Allowance Program would be mandatory if your children want to earn their full allowance. The goal is to teach your children the value of reward from work performed.
-
Do I get to approve or reject a gig being completed?
Yes, once your son or daughter marks an app as “completed”, you can choose to accept or reject the gig as being completed. You will have the option to share a message back through the app to explain your position.
-
What happens if circumstances come up and the gig cannot be completed or needs to be delayed?
The app allows you to cancel a gig, if needed. The app also allows your teen to cancel a gig and let a patron know that they need to delay or postpone a gig – which can easily happen due to influences of weather, school work, sickness or other.
-
As a parent, can I monitor all gig offers between my children and their patrons?
Yes, you will have the means to approve or reject gig assignments. Conversely, you can choose to bypass this supervisory role if you trust that your children and patrons are good to work on a direct basis, without your permissions being required.
-
Can I hire teens outside of my family network?
You will have the ability to act as a patron to children who are not a part of your family. You will need to receive an invitation from that user (so you may wish to tell the teen that you’d like to hire them), and the connection request will need to be approved by their parent or guardian.
-
What is a patron?
A patron is any trusted adult who supports your teen’s goals by hiring them to perform gigs. This could be a relative, neighbor, teacher, etc. Remember, all patrons must be approved by the teen’s parent or guardian before they’ll be able to perform a gig for them or communicate in any way. To add a new patron, simply choose "connect new member" from your home screen.
